The Crow's Nest

My comments, opinions, stories, and poems

I did not have enough sleep last nite and as a consequence my mind is in a fog.
When I went to the bank, I left my card in the machine. Oh my. When I went to the train depoe I missed it. Needless to say the di-dos I had to go thru then.
This reminded me of another foggy time. I wrote it down in a poem.

Words

I sit myself down with pen in hand.
I throw around words like so much sand.

I rake up my loose thoughts and rearrange them in lines;
In hopes I can salvage these lazy words of mine.

These thoughts can not crystallize in my tired, rambling mind.
I need a calm quiet space, then tranquility I'll find.

At last my thoughts do form, a message bright and clear.
I now write with love to my sister, so dear.

I have had several dreams that said, "Shape up". But that was before my poetry days. I would like to share with you one more poem about a dream. Actually. it looked more like a picture.

Choices

Pleasure was swinging on the trapeze,
With bared legs and a scant attire.
While a mother and son were plowing,
With a team of horses in the open field.

The lone man was standing close by
Contemplating and observing both parties.
I, also, was looking on wondering to myself.
I had a feeling there was a message for me.

Was this like a painting, each a symbol,
Or was it just different facets of my life.
As we walk through life, we must choose.
There are many intersections in the road.

We can go it alone and be our own guide
and feel our own reward and satisfaction,
Of climbing the great snow capped mountain,
Or riding the crest of the largest ocean wave.

We, also, can ask for a guide to show us the way,
To lead us when the pathway is uncertain.
We can give up our will and need for pleasure
To be a companion and servant to our Lord.
